WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS! Recently the Philadelphia Eagles defeated the New England Patriots to win Super Bowl LII! Crowds filled the streets after the victory, a massive parade welcomed millions and the mood of the city has been elevated ever since. Though most of us just watched from our sofas, many identify with this victory in a deeply emotional way. Tears have been shed, tattoos commemorate the event and some even spread the ashes of loved ones along the parade route! Football is great fun; but Jesus gained victory over sin and death – He defeated Satan! We are the champions because we identify with Him through faith. Please pray that MetroGrace churches would see the kind of transformation that occurs when followers of Christ embrace His victory as their own!

  • You Might Be Cooler Than You Think!

    February 13, 2018

You might be cooler than you think!

Pete Forshtay challenges some pastoral stereotypes. His hair changes colors on a rotating basis. Any given week, it could be red, blue, green or purple. He has piercings in places that look painful. Recently, he and his team removed the tiles at their facility to reveal an old tin ceiling. They installed drop lights. And they exposed a brick wall to enhance the worship experience. The real surprise came when he removed the nice, new cushioned chairs. In the snow, Pete’s crew picked up some old pews that he found on Craigslist. Pete is praying that the old fashioned look will help guests worship with sincerity, embrace God’s word and seek genuine life transformation. Please ask the Lord to use this church to do that!

So if you still have pews at your church, you might be cooler than you think! Would you consider a new hair color and some piercings?

  • Fractured Knee!

    February 13, 2018
Ouch!! Last month, Margarete Connor, administrator at MetroGrace, fell on the ice, dislocating and fracturing her knee cap, tearing the ligaments that hold it in place. She is recovering from reconstructive surgery and participating in physical therapy. Please pray for Margarete and her husband Mike. Mike is our church planting intern at Crossroads Rhawnhurst.

  • Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service

    February 13, 2018

MetroGrace develops community-based churches that engage with their neighbors. Last month, Crossroads Wissinoming participated in the MLK Day of service by cleaning the streets near its facility. Please pray for Pastor Pete Forshtay and his congregation as they practice the gospel with deeds of righteousness.

  • Pastor Jim Meeting with Charis Fellowship Leaders

    January 12, 2018

This month, Jim Brown plans to meet with leaders from Charis Fellowship ministries (aka Grace Brethren) in Columbus, Ohio. Please pray for productive ministry conversations MetroGrace is privileged to serve with a group of churches focused on biblical truth, biblical relationship and biblical mission. We’re looking forward to broadening ministry prospects as Charis Fellowship progresses. We see great opportunities for fuller participation in urban ministries by Charis churches throughout North America. We’re thankful to serve as a cooperating organization with excellent ministry partners.

  • Baby, It's Cold Outside!

    January 12, 2018

Baby, it’s cold outside…but frigid Philadelphia temperatures haven’t stopped our ministries from reaching out. Crossroads Holmesburg pulled out the popcorn machine, baked some cookies and invited neighbors to watch a movie. And Crossroads Rhawnhurst plans to host a Family Game Night in January.  Simple gatherings provide connection points to meet neighbors, build relationships and introduce new friends to Christ.

  • Christmas 2017 Events

    January 12, 2018

MetroGrace ministries serve children, teens and adults in neighborhoods throughout the city. Last month, the Thrive Christmas Party enabled teens from our communities to have some fun. Please pray for continued growth in this important group for urban youth.

     Thrive party

Four MetroGrace churches held seven different worship services on Christmas Eve. Pete and Danielle Forshtay and their teams led worship in Bridesburg and Wissinoming that morning. They returned to those neighborhoods in the evening to sing Carols by Candlelight. Kingdom Kids shared in worship at Holmesburg that morning; and, neighbors gathered by candlelight that night. Crossroads Rhawnhurst held its very first Candles & Carols service on Christmas Eve. Mike and Margarete Connor and their team welcomed several first-time guests!

  • Another New Neighborhood Church!

    March 01, 2017
We are delighted to be starting another new church in Philadelphia. This time we are focusing on the Rhawnhurst neighborhood in Northeast Philly. Our desire is to plant neighborhood churches throughout the city. Our goal is to start gospel-focused and community-based churches. As such, we have secured a rental space in the Artisian Plaza, 8100 Roosevelt Boulevard. Affectionately called, "The Boulevard," it is the major north/south residential corridor in northeast Philly. It is also known as U.S. 1 and U.S. 13.

Pastor Frank Yost will be leading this congregation as the church planter. Read more about this exciting development here.
